When a woman is pregnant, it is god’s blessing
brought to you because that child will completely change your life and is a
true blessing. My story is going to be about my sister getting pregnant at a young
age.
Seven years ago, my sister had the fortunate
blessing of giving birth to my niece Anahi. She was an angel sent from above
and we were all extremely blessed and fortunate to have her in our lives. Yes,
my sister was only 17 when she had my niece and yes, she was not behaving well
but, one can never say that having a child at a very young age is a mistake.
Obviously it was not a mistake considering you knew that there would be a 50/50
chance of getting pregnant. That child should never be the reason why it was a
mistake because there are other couples out in this world who have been trying
for years and still nothing. Before my sister got pregnant, she was not
behaving, didn’t respect my parent’s rules, and didn’t truly care about school.
After having my niece, she and my niece’s father changed completely for the
sake of their child. Now, there are some teenagers out there who still do not
change even after having a baby but that is just on them and hopefully god will
give them the strength of changing their party days to parent days.
My parents were upset with my sister but I mean,
what parents would want to see their teenage daughter struggle at an age so
young? I was only 10 when my niece was born and it was truly a
great feeling because at that time I felt like she was my little sister and
still today, I feel that way. I love her to death and my sister always tells me that she does
not regret having my niece because without her, she would have probably never
changed the person she was 7 years ago. Everyone always has to think about
their future and what intentions would be the best for them. The decisions you
make as a teenager will probably not be the decisions you will make in 15
years.
From the experience my parents had to deal with my
sister, they are a lot stricter with me because they do not want to see their
youngest daughter struggle. I on the other hand do not mind of my parent being
strict. If your parents are not strict they do not care about your health,
safeness, or future. I’ve always thought to myself, if I do get pregnant at
such a young age, how will I manage to graduate high school, college, getting a
job, and paying my bills? I still have no idea how my sister did it but we are
all so proud of her for graduating college, getting an amazing job, living on
her own with my niece and the father, and right now she is still in college
trying to get her RN bachelors. Yes it will take a couple of more years to
graduate when balancing with all of those responsibilities but in the end, it
will all be worth it.
I want to make my parents proud of me. I am almost
going to graduate and sooner or later I will be going to college. I was given
the opportunity to be in EMS here at Olathe North for free when really, it
costs a lot of money and by the end of this semester I will have my EMS license
which will look amazing on my resume and I will be given 5 college credits for
JCCC. I just want to keep pushing forward and getting even more great
opportunities so that I can make my parents proud of me. I want them to know
that I will not make the decisions my sister made and that is why they have a
lot of confidence with me. In general I just want to God for blessing me with
an amazing family and for all of these blessing he has blessed me with. I thank
him every day and I will continue to every day for the rest of my life.
